Vale do Caí municipalities have achieved a significant economical growth in the last 10 years. Bom Princípio had the best economical performance between 1989 and 1999, among a group of 12 towns that emancipated in 1981-1982. The city still preserves bucolic features, as it may be seen in the following images.Os municípios do Vale do Caí alcançaram expressivo crescimento econômico nos últimos 10 anos.

Tupandi was the municipality, among the 89 ones which got emancipated in 1987-1988, that has achieved the best economical performance in the last ten years; it has increased ten times its former economy. The town stands out in the primary sector, with an exceptional chicken production and has also brought to the region many industries. Its tertiary sector is still incipient. This progress is reflected in many features of the town, as shown in the following images.

Many other municipalities, which have become independent from São Sebastião do Caí, have generated other emancipations from 1982 on: Bom Princípio (that gave origin to Tupandi and São Vendelino), São José do Hortêncio and Capela de Santana. Even with such area losses, the municipality has developed a lot in the last 10 years, with a growth rate of around 78%. Next, there can be seen some images from this renewed municipality.

Review of a documentary about  Aceguá-RS:

Today’s media (May 9th, 2001)  highlighted that the hospital from Colônia Nova district, in Aceguá, is in the 5th position among the best hospitals in the country, according to the evaluation of the services rendered to SUS users. Know a little bit more about this peculiar “colony” of Mennonites, incrusted in the middle of the lowlands of Rio Grande do Sul, visiting again the documentary produced last November about the new municipality of Aceguá. The colony, as well as the surrounding open fields is one of the most beautiful landscapes of the “gaúcho” territory, as you can check in the images. These images were got during an in-field data collection for the research developed by João Paulo Lunelli for his master degree. The dissertation is titled “Reasons for the distinguishing development of Colônia Nova district”, and it will be soon presented at the Post-Graduation of the Business Administration School of Federal University of RGS.

"A new municipality is born"

Nearly 40 areas in Rio Grande do Sul (RS) are mobilized to become municipalities. On this Sunday, Quintão had its first official meeting, in order to get its emancipation from Palmares do Sul. This town, located in the northern coast of the state, between Pinhal and Mostardas, has around 5,000 inhabitants and in Summer this number increases to more than 100,000. Among the locations included in the emancipation project are: Quintão Pioneiro (seat), Rei do Peixe, Dunas Altas and Granja Vargas.

In 1981/1982, 12 districts were emancipated, being added to the 232 municipalities existing at the time; in 1988, other 89 were emancipated; in 1992, more 94; in 1996, other 40; and in 2000, more 30 were emancipated, totalizing 497 municipalities. The reason for the high levels of life quality in RS interior is due to the small municipalities because they usually take good care of their finances, children, elderly, women and other social segments.

Next, there are some images of the meeting at SARPEIXE, since the formal receiving of the signatures by the local notary, acclamation of the emancipation commission and signature of the meeting proceedings:   1234567
