IMAGES OF JUNE 30, 2002: Porto Alegre-RS: Brazil
five-time soccer champion of the World Cup! Congratulations Brazil!...hurray for our
national team, our star players, coach Felipão, for the technical
support team, for Brazilians and all those who have cheered so hard.
Congratulations also are deserving to the Germans who showed
broad shoulders, dignity, respect, and good sportsmanship in the field,
despite loosing. In Porto Alegre, the victory was
celebrated with much satisfaction and enthusiasm, especially on Goethe
Avenue where thousands of fans, mainly young people, gathered throughout
the entire day, in spite of the rain.
This avenue, which is named in honor of the great German poet, is
the usual place for celebrating the victories of either of the two local
soccer teams, Gremio and Internacional.
But now it doesn't matter who you are a fan for, or even if you
cheer for another team other than these two (a very rare breed in Porto
Alegre)... today is a chance for everyone to celebrate together.

OF JUNE 15, 2002: São Vendelino-RS: The
municipality of São Vendelino-RS, emancipated in 1988, is one of the
smallest in RS, having many countryside sites and is known for the
unique name of "Little Paradise".
It was used at the backdrop for the film "A Hora do
Louva-a-deus" (The Hour of the Praying Mantis), produced by the
company
Accorde -
Cinema e Televisão.
In this film, the mayor of the small town is shown playing cards.
On this Saturday afternoon, we one again find him playing cards
at the bar "Salão Imigrante" (Immigrant Hall), in the center
of the city. Despite its
small size, the city, paradoxically, is one of the most progressive in
the state of Rio Grande do Sul. In
fact, this can be confirmed by just looking around and by the good humor
and disposition of the people, who seem to be enjoying life.
The city has an integration partnership with the region of "Sankt
Wendel" in Germany, which is where its first pioneers came from.
Various young people have spent some time in Germany through this
exchange agreement and another group was getting ready to leave soon,
for a new exchange program experience. 1) Sites from Morro da Antena: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 2) Other

Holland has several cities that impress you by their cultural riches (such
as Utrecht), shocking customs and colors (Amsterdam), importance of
international trade (Rotterdam), and importance to the global political
scenario (Haia). But most
incredible as it may seem, despite located along the north sea, it also
has heavily frequented beaches (such as Schevening). Find out a little
more about this rich and fascinating country by reading "Chronicles
of Lilian", written by Lilian Piraine Laranja, in the section "Câmera Móvel"
of
this site. Check it out for
