- From January 28 to February 5, more than 60 thousand people will be in Porto Alegre to participate in the World Social Forum.  Hundreds of large-scale activities will be taking place throughout the city, making it a worldwide reference for a few days.  Just as in the edition of 2001 (see it again here), the Wcams site will once again be present, contributing toward the promotion of the event, with specific sections about the II WSF (see, clicking here), bringing to you contextual information on the city, the State, and the country that is hosting the event.  Due to the elevated number of activities that are taking place in the city, many people have difficulty in knowing all the programs.  We suggest you access this page, the official II WSF, which has information about all this. here);

-  At the request of the internet folks, the sites of NUTEP and Wcams have made available a space for discussions on city topics.  In this place, or virtual room, the internet surfers (from Porto Alegre, from the State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazilians, and internet people in general) can send news and messages, see information, present views, speak about current interests, habits and cultures of people, and about other related topics.  To enter this discussion Forum, click here or on the corresponding icon shown in the "camera 2" section (and stay up-to-date on what is going on in the world and what they think of us...)

- Registration is open for the 2^nd edition of a long-distance extension course sponsored by nucleuses of Navi and NUTEP, from The School of Administration of UFRGS, entitle Effective Municipal Administration with Fiscal Responsibility.  See a sample class and illustrative support video.  In this new edition, the course will be open to participants from other States of Brazil and will have improvements such as the transmission recourse, according to tests in progress in the "mobile camera" of this site (see initial page).

-  See the initial data about the economic performance of the cities in the RS state, in the section of "Economic Aspects" of the site "Terragaúcha".  This study has been made annually since 1984.  Some of the highlights are the following:  the city of Pelotas was taken off of the list of the 10 cities in RS with the largest GNP and São Leopoldo joined the group again, the effect of GM in Gravataí, and the consolidation of Canoas in the 2^nd place of the general  ranking ahead of Caxias do Sul.

-  PPGA/EA/UFRGS was included in the ranking of the best Master's Degrees for Professionals in Brazil, as announced by the magazine Você S.A.  In the general ranking, PPGA took 3^rd place in Brazil.  One of the strong points of the Master's Degree for Executives from PPGA/EA/UFGRS is the quality of its teaching staff.  The PPGA has 36 teachers with Ph.D. degrees, of which 17 were received abroad.  Another highlight is the exchange program it has with École des Hautes Études Commerciales (HEC), in Paris and Montreal.  In the MBA course (a specialization course,  lato sensu post-graduate degree), the PPGA ranked 13 among the 26 Institutions evaluated.  More information about the Executive Master's Degree can be obtained by clicking here.

-          With the translation process development of the Wcams sites, in full for the english and spanish languages, and partly for french, german and italian, the number of accesses to the page is increasing substantialy; from an average of  9 thousand hits day, for this months of October it is estimated to surpass the barrier of 20 thousand per day.
